- How do I measure my valve to know which thread size I need?Pneumatic thread sizes (like 1/8" or 1/4") do not refer to the physical diameter of the thread in inches. You need to measure the outer diameter (OD) of your current fitting. A 9.7mm OD is a 1/8" thread; 13.1mm is 1/4"; 16.6mm is 3/8"; and 20.9mm is 1/2".
- Can this muffler get clogged over time?Yes. Because it acts as a filter, oil, moisture, and dust from the air compressor can eventually clog the microscopic pores. If you notice a drop in exhaust speed, simply remove the muffler and soak it in a mild solvent or degreaser, then blow compressed air through it in the reverse direction to clean it.
- Do I need to use Teflon tape on the threads?While the brass threads provide a good seal, wrapping 1-2 layers of Teflon (plumber's) tape around the male threads before installation is highly recommended to ensure a completely airtight, leak-free connection.
