Build Smart Wearables & Robotic Hands
Measuring the exact angle of a bending finger or a mechanical joint is critical for advanced robotics. This 4.5-inch Flex Sensor Module changes its electrical resistance based on how much it is bent. When perfectly straight, it reads approximately 10KΩ; when bent to 90 degrees, the resistance increases to between 60KΩ and 110KΩ. This makes it the perfect sensor for creating interactive animatronics, VR gaming gloves, and physical rehabilitation devices.
Pre-Soldered for Maximum Durability
If you have used bare flex sensors before, you know their biggest flaw: the terminal pins are incredibly fragile and snap off easily during use. We solved this problem. This sensor comes pre-soldered to a custom PCB module, reinforced with heavy-duty heat shrink tubing at the base. This eliminates stress on the delicate pins, allowing the sensor to withstand over 1 million bending cycles without failing.
Dual Output: Analog & Digital
This module offers incredible flexibility for your microcontroller projects. Use the Analog Output (AO) to read the exact degree of the bend via your Arduino's ADC pin. Alternatively, use the onboard 100KΩ potentiometer to set a specific trigger threshold. Once the sensor bends past your set angle, the Digital Output (DO) will instantly switch states—perfect for triggering relays, LEDs, or alarms without writing complex code.
💡 Pro Tip from Our Technicians
"CRITICAL WARNING: This flex sensor is directional! You must ONLY bend it towards the side with the printed text. Bending it backward will yield unreliable data and permanently damage the internal carbon traces. Also, never bend the sensor right at the base where it meets the PCB, as this causes kinking. If you are struggling to calibrate the Analog Output (AO) values in your Arduino code, drop by our Sham Shui Po store!

FAQ Section
FAQ Section
- Which direction should I bend the sensor? You must only bend the sensor towards the side with the printed text (the side with the ink). Bending it in the opposite direction will not produce reliable resistance changes and will permanently damage the sensor.
- How do I calibrate the Analog Output (AO) in my Arduino code?Because each sensor has a slight ±30% tolerance, you must calibrate it. First, read the AO value when the sensor is perfectly straight (e.g., STRAIGHT_RESISTANCE = 37300.0). Then, bend it to 90 degrees and record the new value (e.g., BEND_RESISTANCE = 90000.0). Use these two values in your code's map() function to calculate the exact angle.
- What does the DO (Digital Output) pin do?The DO pin acts as a simple ON/OFF switch. You can use a small screwdriver to turn the potentiometer on the board to set a specific bend angle. When the sensor bends past that angle, the DO pin goes HIGH (or LOW), allowing you to trigger an event without writing complex analog-reading code.
