Full Product Description

High-Speed MCU Programming & Debugging

The PICkit 3.5+ delivers rapid, low-cost in-circuit debugging and programming for a vast range of Microchip MCUs. Whether you are developing a new embedded system or troubleshooting an existing circuit board, this tool integrates seamlessly with the official MPLAB IDE (v8.20 or higher). It supports full-speed execution, single-step debugging, and hardware breakpoints, giving you complete control over your microcontroller's performance and logic flow.

Universal ZIF Socket Adapter Included

Flash standalone chips easily using the included multi-size ZIF (Zero Insertion Force) socket adapter board. While the standard 6-pin ICSP cable is great for on-board programming, the ZIF adapter allows you to program loose chips before soldering them to your PCB. It supports 8-pin, 14-pin, 18-pin, 20-pin, 28-pin, and 40-pin PIC microcontrollers, securely locking them in place without bending their fragile legs. (Note: The ZIF socket is for programming only, not hardware emulation).

💡 Pro Tip from Our Technicians

"When connecting the 6-pin ICSP cable to your target board, always double-check the alignment of Pin 1 (usually marked with an arrow or triangle)! Plugging the ICSP cable backward will instantly fry the PICkit 3.5+ downloader and potentially your microcontroller. Also, ensure your MPLAB IDE is updated to recognize the latest chip models. If you are a student working on a Final Year Project (FYP) and need help selecting the right MCU components, drop by our Sham Shui Po store! Our team at Sun Cheong Computer Co. Ltd. loves providing technical advice for DIY electronics projects."

FAQ Section

  • Does the PICkit 3.5+ support the PIC32 microcontroller series?Yes, the PICkit 3.5+ fully supports the 32-bit PIC32MX series, along with 8-bit (PIC10/12/16/18) and 16-bit (PIC24, dsPIC30/33) devices. It is a highly versatile tool for almost the entire Microchip PIC lineup.
  • What is the difference between the PICkit 3 and the PICkit 3.5+?The PICkit 3.5+ is an upgraded version of the standard PICkit 3. It features improved internal circuitry for faster USB communication, better offline programming stability, and enhanced self-recovery capabilities to prevent firmware corruption during updates.
  • How do I use the included ZIF socket adapter? The ZIF socket adapter is used for programming loose, unsoldered DIP chips. Connect the 5-pin header from the ZIF board to the PICkit 3.5+. Place your chip into the green ZIF socket according to the pin-mapping diagram printed on the back of the red PCB, lock the lever, and initiate the programming via MPLAB.
  • Can I buy this PICkit 3.5+ kit in Sham Shui Po today?Absolutely! Sun Cheong Computer Co. Ltd. keeps a large inventory of microcontroller programmers and DIY electronic components at our Sham Shui Po physical store. You can order online and pick up your kit instantly during our business hours.
  • What do the LED lights on the PICkit 3.5+ indicate? The Green "Power" LED indicates the device is on. The Blue "Active" LED turns on when communication with the PC is established. The "Status" LED shows Green for standby/normal operation, Yellow when busy (reading/writing), and Red if a debugging or programming failure occurs.
