Full Product Description

Elevate Your IoT Audio Experience

Building a custom smart speaker, internet radio, or interactive IoT device shouldn't require an engineering degree in audio signal processing. The MAX98357A I2S Audio Amplifier Module is designed to take the digital audio straight from your microcontroller and drive a speaker directly. By keeping the audio strictly in the digital domain until the very last stage, it drastically reduces interference, static, and signal degradation, ensuring pristine sound quality for your projects.

Seamless I2S Integration (No MCLK Required)

One of the biggest hurdles in digital audio is clock synchronization. This module simplifies your build by eliminating the need for a master clock (MCLK). It features an integrated PLL (Phase-Locked Loop) that automatically detects the BCLK and LRC frequencies, allowing it to seamlessly configure up to 35 different clocks and 128 digital audio formats. Simply connect the standard I2S pins (DIN, BCLK, LRC), provide power, and you are ready to play audio from your ESP32 or Raspberry Pi.

Compact Size, Massive Output

Don't let the small footprint fool you. Running on a standard 5V logic supply, this filterless Class D amplifier delivers a robust 3.2W of power into a 4Ω speaker or 1.8W into an 8Ω speaker. The high efficiency of the Class D architecture means it generates minimal heat, making it perfect for battery-powered or tightly enclosed portable audio projects.

Built for Makers and Fast Prototyping

Time is your most valuable asset when prototyping. We stock this module with the 7-pin header already pre-soldered, alongside a robust screw terminal for your speaker wires. Whether you are dropping it onto a breadboard for testing or wiring it permanently into a 3D-printed enclosure, it is designed for rapid deployment. Backed by Sun Cheong Computer's 20 years of trusted electronics supply, you can rely on this module for consistent, high-fidelity performance.

FAQ Section

Q: Do I need a DAC (Digital-to-Analog Converter) to use this with my ESP32?
A: No! The MAX98357A has a built-in DAC. It takes the digital I2S signal directly from your ESP32 or Raspberry Pi and converts it to an analog signal to drive the speaker, bypassing the noisy internal DACs of most microcontrollers.

Q: Why doesn't this module have an MCLK pin?
A: The MAX98357A features advanced internal circuitry that automatically derives the necessary clocking from the Bit Clock (BCLK) and Left/Right Clock (LRC). This makes wiring much simpler and frees up a pin on your development board.

Q: Can I run this off a standard 3.3V power supply?
A: Yes, the module supports an operating voltage of 2.5V to 5.5V. However, for maximum output power (3.2W), providing a stable 5V supply to the VCC pin is recommended.
